| Variety of scale and function has been the corner stone for the formation of the urban plan. Apartments and small houses, flexible use, mixture of scale and a variety of purchase or rental solutions have been described. Commercial and community spaces, local public transport and parks, together build a sustainable garden city area, both from a social and ecological perspective. |
Stapolin Village is integrated into its surroundings. This area is a small portion of a larger regional plan for the North and West of Dublin where a extensive development is proposed over the next five years. The existing green areas are linked together by the new development, at the same time an existing train link to central Dublin has been given a new station to serve the new area. |
Stapolin Village is built up around a number of large public spaces, parks and squares, that are linked together through informal meeting places made up of small streets and smaller squares. These room building elements provide a changing and rich environment that are easily habituated. The village is divided into six building phases, each of approximately 400 units per phase. Production is scheduled between 2002 to 2012. |
