A key design objective is to emphasise the structure of the public space and Spine, which are defined by the buildings through the breakdown, and mix of different volumes, horizontally and vertically. An important element in the hierarchy of spaces from the outset of the competition entry for the Village was the Oval Square. Unfortunately due to conflicts with infrastructure and estimated building costs of the original proposal its realization has not materialised. An alternative solution has been reached through a long process of consideration for this complex site at the meeting point of central and southern park, and the spine pedestrian walkway.
