The Tinnerbäcksbadet and folkungavallen area has a unique situation in relation to the centre of Linköping; close to the historic centre of the town and between beautiful parkland, the river Stångåns and Berg Hagas extensive woodland. Green corridors cross the site alongside Tinnerbäcks stream and include a dramatic waterfall to the west of the site. The centre of the area is Tinnerbäcks open-air swimming facilities, which together with gentle green slopes, provides the people of Linköping with a much loved place.

The proposal takes into account important public pedestrian and cycle movement in the area; new and existing buildings combined to create a new urban realm. The existing surrounding streets are treated with traffic calming elements and with an increased planting their environmental impact is improved.
